The Divine Mercy Shrine in Consolacion, Cebu

Palafox – We are honored and privileged to be appointed as the architects, planners, designers, and engineers for the Divine Mercy Shrine to be built in Consolacion, Cebu. It is truly an opportune time to be collaborating with the Archdiocese of Cebu as we continue to celebrate 500 Years of Christianity in the Philippines.

Architect Palafox is also grateful to be named as the chief architect and planner of this project led by His Excellency Jose S. Palma, D.D., Archbishop of Cebu; His Excellency Midyphil Billones, Auxiliary Bishop of Cebu; Rev. Msgr. Rommel Kintanar, Divine Mercy Shrine Chaplain; Rev. Fr. Lucas Inoc, Divine Mercy Spiritual Director; and the Divine Mercy devotees.

The Divine Mercy Shrine is envisioned to be a comprehensively planned religious complex that is sustainable, inclusive, and people-centric. A peaceful paradise atop the mountains of Consolacion, it will be a destination for Cebuanos, pilgrims, and tourists. The Divine Mercy Shrine hopes to inspire visitors to reignite their devotions and reconnect with God.

With winding walkways and places like the Stairway to Heaven, the Pilgrim Center, the St. Faustina Prayer Grounds, the Rosary Garden, and generous open spaces including courtyards, visitors will have plenty of experiences to take on. Areas for shops, cafes, and al fresco dining will also be available for everyone to enjoy, complementing the religious activities enjoyed around the complex.

The 65-meter shrine also features open and fluid spaces that showcase the natural beauty of wood and stone. These create a sense of unity between interior, architecture, and nature — inviting visitors to explore the shrine and the entire complex. Lounge areas and viewing decks also offer a different perspective of Consolacion and the Divine Mercy Shrine.
